UI OTT Release Date: Upendra recently headlined a sci-fi Kannada film which has finally found a digital home. The dystopian saga was long-awaited on OTT since there were hopes that it might find its audiences online. Worry not if you are among that clan as UI will be streaming on Zee5 starting March 30 (Ugadi), as per an OTT Play report. However, an official confirmation is awaited!
Directed by Upendra and produced by Lahari Films and Venus Entertainers, H. C. Venugopal has cinematographed UI under the editing of Vijay Raj B. G. Other than Upendra, this B. Ajaneesh Loknath musical also starred Reeshma Nanaiah, Sadhu Kokila, Vinayak Trivedi, Murali Sharma, Indrajit Lankesh, Nidhi Subbaiah, Om Sai Prakash, Guruprasad, P. Ravi Shankar, Achyuth Kumar, Hamsa Prathap, Neetu and Lasya Nagraj among others.
A part of The Hindu¡¯s review read, ¡°The film is quite weak on entertainment quotient. We miss the peppy numbers that match the vibe of Upendra¡¯s quirky ideas. The set pieces in UI have a serious tone and don¡¯t give the adrenaline rush we experienced in his yesteryear hits. Apart from the twisted climax, the film is quite easy to comprehend, quashing the talks about the film being a mind-bending drama.¡±
In a made-up world created by the director, the story follows a smart and exceptional man who challenges the ruler of a town. Through clever plans, he takes over the town and becomes a harsh dictator. UI shows how misusing power, knowledge, and technology can cause chaos and harm. What starts as a peaceful place falls apart as the new leader tricks people, turning them against each other based on their social status, wealth, and religion.
