One Piece returned after a six-month hiatus, and with it, people expected improvements in everything, including animation and sound. However, some viewers have been saying that the sound effects need work. One of One Piece¡¯s animators, Sota Shigetsugu, has slammed the sound design team and asked Toei Animation to fire them all because their work is outdated. Here is what else he said.
Sota Shigetsugu, who has contributed to a number of anime, including Attack on Titan, Jujutsu Kaisen, and the upcoming Chainsaw Man: Reze film, expressed his dissatisfaction on X using the handle @Hone_Hone.
His post in Japanese translates to, ¡°Toei should urgently fire the sound team for One Piece. That¡¯s not the work of professionals.¡±
The discussion on the show's sound design is still going strong even though the post has since been removed. The sound effects in One Piece need to be improved, according to many fans and some were also unaware of what the matter is.?
One wrote, ¡°Remember when they said they were upgrading their SFX during the 6-month hiatus?.¡±
Another added, ¡°Toei has used the same sound effects for decades. Even in major shows like Dragon Ball and One Piece.¡±
A third went on to add, ¡°Whoever the sound designer for these episodes has no idea about what audio fatigue is, do NOT play the exact same sound at the exact same pitch 23 times in a row or the viewer WILL get sick of it.¡±
What do you think? Will Toei take a hard call?
