Google Gemini Live update: The Google Pixel 9 and Samsung Galaxy S25 series will have state-of-the-art screens and video-sharing capabilities thanks to Google's Gemini Live.
These AI-powered capabilities, created under Project Astra, were shown at MWC 2025 last month and allow for live video chats and real-time screen sharing.
The April 2025 Pixel Drop update will give Pixel 9 users these services for free, but Galaxy S25 users will require a Gemini Advanced membership.
Your smartphone experience will soon be more interesting and dynamic than before, thanks to these advancements! ?
According to Google, the update makes Gemini a real-time problem solution. Gemini can provide pertinent, real-time assistance by using multimodal processing to comprehend what is visible on the screen or in the camera view.
To get immediate information, users can utilize the camera on their smartphone to display Gemini as a landmark, a store, or a dish. Gemini changes its replies in real-time as the camera moves. Similar to this, users can receive assistance during screen sharing based on the content that is shown on their screen, including documents, photographs, and web pages.
According to Google, clicking the "Share screen with Live" floating action button (FAB) when the Gemini assistant overlay is visible will activate the screen-sharing capability. When pressed, Android displays a confirmation box that asks users if they wish to allow the Google app to take over their whole screen.
Because it's a Gemini Live feature, users will see a call-style live notification in the status bar when it's enabled, letting them know that live data processing is enabled. By launching Gemini Live and tapping the screen share icon, users can easily enable the capability.
Similarly, users can access Gemini Live and touch on the recently added video button at the bottom of the UI to share the device's live video feed via the rear camera. Only when the screen is activated does the functionality function. For optimal performance, Google advises users to maintain a steady camera movement.
You can communicate with Gemini and show them what's on your screen with the Gemini Live function. YouTube videos, files, and photos can all use this feature.
Users only need to launch the Gemini app on their compatible devices and aim the camera at the objects they need assistance with to get started.
Users can share their screens while perusing online merchants to get tailored design recommendations, or they can concentrate on the camera to get suggestions on how to arrange their belongings and make the most of their available space.
For instance, you may point your camera at an overflowing shelf, a cluttered drawer, or a disorganized closet if you're feeling overburdened by cleaning.
Gemini will make recommendations on how to organize things, make the most of available space, or even assist in deciding what should be thrown out or donated.
Users can also get insights by sharing their screens with Gemini Live. If you're having trouble coming up with ideas, share your screen with Gemini and show them your pictures.
You may ask Gemini to spark ideas for designs, creative writing, or even crafts by putting up pictures of things that excite you, such as the brilliant colors of a busy market or the textures of a tree.
Using the Gemini App on Mobile:
As an alternative, press "Stop sharing" on the Screen Sharing card after swiping down from the top edge of the screen. Additionally, if the screen is locked or Live is paused, screen sharing instantly ends.
According to Google, the camera will switch off on its own in the following circumstances:
