Samsung¡¯s Galaxy Fold hit off last year¡¯s thirst for folding smartphones -- even though it had a rather abrupt start. Later revisions surely made the phone better, but not only was the phone too expensive, but it still had some major design flaws that didn¡¯t give many people enough courage to actually buy one.
With 2020 however, we anticipate new flagships by the South Korean smartphone maker as well as a new folding smartphone, which would hopefully be a lot more durable than the predecessor.
Recent leaks have been hinting at a smaller clamshell design -- similar to the Razr phone (also dubbed Galaxy Fold Z) bringing back the flip. And now a new leaked video has surfaced online, confirming these rumours.
The video was shared on Twitter, courtesy of leakster Ben Geskin. The device is identical to the renders that we¡¯ve been seeing since a past few weeks. The device is all glossy in a rather poppy-yet-subtle purple. The top part of the clamshell holds a dual-camera setup with a strip to the left which is actually a tiny secondary display.
The square clamshell when opened reveals the long folding screen in all its glory. It still retains the thick surrounding bezels to protect the folding screen -- along with the ugly AF crease a the centre. The screen also has a punch-hole selfie camera on the top centre -- like the Galaxy Note 10.
When flipped open the display is all flat -- like a standard glass-sandwich smartphone. Even when shut, the device shuts without any gaps -- something that was seen on the first-generation Galaxy Fold.
From the looks of it, the device has no headphone jack -- which isn¡¯t surprising, considering even Note 10 didn¡¯t come with one, and the device will probably be paired with Samsung¡¯s Galaxy Buds.?
Under the hood, while the specs aren¡¯t out, we can expect the device to be equipped with Qualcomm¡¯s top-of-the-line Snapdragon 865 chipset paired with 8GB to 10GB of RAM and 256GB to 512GB storage space.
The device is expected to launch alongside Galaxy S20 on March 6th, 2020.
