Australia faced flash floods in February this year and that forced thousands of people to flee their homes. The devastating floods not only resulted in water-logging in many areas but also brought in seawater. And with seawater came deadly crocodiles and snakes. ?
Australia also has a reputation for being home to some of the most terrifying animals in the world. Now, another reptile sighting from the country has stunned experts and people around the world.
'An x-ray revealed it was not two separate heads forged together, rather it appeared to be one skull with an additional eye socket and three functioning eyes,' the park wrote in a Facebook post.
The park explained that this deformity is a natural occurrence as malformed reptiles are common in Australia.
¡®It was generally agreed that the eye likely developed very early during the embryonic stage of development. It is?extremely unlikely that this is from environmental factors and is almost certainly a natural occurrence as malformed reptiles are relatively common,¡¯ Northern Territory Parks and Wildlife wrote on Facebook.
The ranger told a local newspaper that the snake¡¯s length was 40 cm and it was about three months old. He died just a few days back after it was discovered by rangers, but they said that its survival for over three months was nothing less than ¡®remarkable¡¯.
¡®It's remarkable it was able to survive so long in the wild with its deformity, and he was struggling to feed before he died last week,¡¯ the park wrote on Facebook.
