Karisma Kapoor steps out after Sunjay Kapur’s death

Dressed in a solemn white salwar suit, Karisma quietly made her way into the terminal. Her son Kiaan was seen in a white kurta-pyjama, and a brief glimpse of daughter Samaira showed her similarly dressed in white, the family maintaining the traditional attire associated with mourning. Videos capturing the moment have now gone viral on social media, marking a rare emotional moment in the public eye.

Sunjay Kapur’s final rites in Delhi

The last rites for Sunjay Kapur, a Delhi-based industrialist and noted polo player, will be held at the Lodhi Road Cremation Ground in Delhi at 5 pm on Thursday. His family had released a press statement on Wednesday, confirming the details and explaining that certain legal formalities delayed the repatriation of his body, largely due to his US citizenship.

Sunjay’s death has left many in shock. He collapsed during a polo match in England on 12 June. While early reports suggested a heart attack, some sources claim the fatal episode may have been triggered by a bee sting. An official cause of death has yet to be confirmed.

Prayer meet scheduled for June 22

The Kapur family has announced a prayer meeting to be held on 22 June between 4 pm and 5 pm at the Taj Palace Hotel, New Delhi. A circulated note mentions Sunjay’s immediate family, his wife Priya, their son Azarias, his mother Rani Surinder Kapur, as well as his children with Karisma, Samaira and Kiaan.

Karisma and Sunjay’s past

Karisma and Sunjay were married in 2003 and share two children. The couple filed for divorce in 2014, which was finalised in 2016. Post-divorce, Sunjay married Priya Sachdev in 2017 and welcomed a son, Azarias.

Karisma’s composed appearance with her children highlights the emotional ties that linger even after relationships end. In grief, the former couple’s shared history came full circle, a reminder of the deeply personal loss behind public figures.
