Salman Khan could soon be trading his typical Dabangg cop look for military fatigues, if the latest buzz from Bollywood is to be believed. According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, the superstar is in advanced talks to headline a war drama based on the 2020 Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese soldiers.
The film is reportedly inspired by India¡¯s Most Fearless 3, the bestselling book by journalists Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh. One chapter in particular, recounting the harrowing yet heroic events of the Galwan conflict¡ªhas apparently struck a chord with Salman, making him seriously consider this project as a follow-up to his recent release Sikandar.
The project will be helmed by Shootout at Lokhandwala director Apoorva Lakhia. The duo were introduced by producer Jordy Patel and reportedly hit it off instantly over this gritty and patriotic script. A source revealed that Apoorva had acquired the rights to the book some time ago and shared the idea with Salman, who was moved by the story's emotional intensity and its tribute to real-life heroes.
The actor, known for larger-than-life roles, is reportedly excited about playing an Indian Army officer on screen¡ªsomething he has not done before. He is also said to be looking for fresh collaborations, having already worked with big-ticket directors like Kabir Khan and Ali Abbas Zafar.
The film is expected to roll in the second half of 2025, and will feature four other prominent actors alongside Salman in key roles. If finalised, the film could mark a major shift in tone for the actor, moving away from masala entertainers to a more grounded, nationalistic narrative.
Salman¡¯s last film Sikandar, directed by AR Murugadoss, saw him in the role of a righteous vigilante but failed to leave a lasting mark at the box office. Now, with this potential war drama, fans are hopeful that Khan will return with a bang this time, saluting the brave hearts of the Indian Army.
