Sexually explicit and erotic work can be found sculpted on the walls of a fair few Indian temples, most famous of them being the Khajuraho temple. Even though expression of sexuality has been a part of historic Indian culture, people still frown at?sexually-explicit content if they come across it in public, and that's not just the case in India.?
Some British expats ( people temporarily or permanently residing in a country other than that of their upbringing) were outraged by the sexually-graphic artwork on a beach in Spain. So much so, that they complained to the local council.

There are sculptures at a popular Costa Blanca beach in Alicante, which depict figures engaged in sexual acts including threesomes among the same sex. This has apparently disturbed a lot of beach-goers and caused a controversy.
Some people have described the sculptures as 'bordering on pornographic' and called them unsuitable for a place which is frequently visited by children.?

73-year-old British expat, Dave Mills, said that he could no longer go to the beach with his grandchildren, ¡°Thousands of visitors and locals, including children walk along the 'passeo' and will not be able to miss the pornographic elements,¡± The Sun quoted him as saying. He further said, ¡°I definitely won't be taking my grand-children there.¡±
Andy Mansell, a person on holiday said that some sculptures were ¡°obvious, others are indecipherable and a few are bordering on pornographic.¡±

However, not everyone was put off by the sculptures. A 62-year-old beach-goer said that the erotic art actually taught her a thing or two and allowed her to have an open mind. ¡°I must admit I kind of like them - it broadens the mind somewhat,¡± she said.
Well, if the art was able to liberate the mind of even one person, I believe it served its purpose.?
