When you get your favourite food from a well-renowned restaurant, you expect it to be delicious and hygienic. Well, isn't that the whole point of spending money at a famous food outlet? But a man in Gujarat was left disgusted after he found something other than ice in his soft drink.?
A man in Ahmedabad claimed that he found a dead lizard in the soft drink he ordered at a McDonald's outlet. He posted a video about the same where he showed the dead lizard in his beverage.?
The video was shared by Twitter user Bhargav Joshi who went with his three other friends to the outlet to grab a bite. He mentioned how his friend took two sips of the beverage and shook the drink. After this, the lizard which was stuck at the bottom started floating above.?
He further alleged the negligence of the staff. He said that he and his friends sat at the outlet for over four hours waiting for someone to listen to their complaint. They further claimed that staff only offered them a refund of Rs 300.?"A life is worth ? 300?" another man from the group said.
When they found out about the lizard, they took a video as well and claimed that the staff is not ready to see them or even check the drink.?
After watching the video, many disgusted Twitter users commented about the negligence.?¡°This is so disgusting! Lately, i have seen so many foods safety and hygiene issues happening. It feels like the staffs are becoming negligent and somewhere i feel being overburdened is the reason... Still, it is no excuse that food safety and hygiene be taken for granted,¡± a user wrote.
While another said, ¡°Bravo Bhargav and your friends.¡±??
The video immediately went viral on social media. The AMC swung into action and after checking the place, they sealed the outlet. They took the sample of the cold drink and sent it to the Public Health Laboratory.
Mr Joshi also posted the photo of the sealed outlet and thanked the civic body for taking prompt action. ¡°Great work done by AMC,¡± he said in the tweet.

After the incident, McDonald's issued a statement saying they value the safety and hygiene of the customers.?
¡°At McDonald¡¯s, we are committed to ensuring the safety and hygiene of all our customers. Quality, service, cleanliness and value are at the core of our business operations. Furthermore, as part of our Golden Guarantee programme, we have implemented 42 strict safety and hygiene protocols across all our McDonald¡¯s restaurants, which include strict processes for regular kitchen and restaurant cleaning and sanitisation, among others. We are looking into this incident that is alleged to have taken place at the Ahmedabad outlet. While we have checked repeatedly and found nothing wrong, we are cooperating with the authorities, being a good corporate citizen.¡±
