Screenwriter Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar, got a little too candid in an interview with Entertainment Pakistan, while he was talking about his new drama Mere Paas Tum Ho. His new drama talks about a woman who is married and cheats on her husband with her boss.?
He opened up about his views on gender equality and who according to him is a 'good woman'. He also proclaimed ¡°You can't find a bigger feminist in Pakistan than me¡±. Talking about loyalty, he said that it is solely the responsibility of a woman to be loyal, adding that he believes in equal rights for women, but his remarks said something different. He said, ¡°A woman's only beauty is her self-respect and honour.¡±
The interview got dirtier after this when Qamar said, ¡°When people ask me about equality, I ask them if they have heard the news of five men kidnapping a woman, to which they reply yes. But then I ask them if they have heard the news about five women kidnapping a man,¡± he said.?
¡°If women want equality, they need to do the same things men are doing. Go and rob a bus, abduct a man and gang-rape him. Only then I would know there is equality,¡± he added.
Here's the interview:?
He further said that, ¡°Women don't know about their rights, they want a share of men's rights, which they can never have. They will never be allowed to wear shorts in the subcontinent¡±.
Qamar also believes that it is a woman's fault, who tempts man into cheating their wives. ¡°A woman lures a man into an affair and it is the woman's fault that she is ruining other people's marriage.¡±?
The screenwriter was also aware that his opinions will definitely receive backlash. ¡°There are specific groups who will tweet about me but there is nothing else they can do.¡±
Obviously people started lashing out at him.?
