A guy from the state of Arizona, USA won a $229,368 (over Rs 1.7 crores) jackpot at a Las Vegas slot machine but had no knowledge that he has won finally received his winnings.?
This lucky man named?Robert Taylor won this jackpot at the Treasure Island Hotel & Casino back on 8 January. However, due to a software malfunction, no one including him or the staff at the casino came to know that Taylor has won big.?
But by the time the malfunction was sorted out and the casino staff came to know about this jackpot,?Taylor had already gone back home to Arizona so the Nevada Gaming Control Board (where the casino was) were then asked to track him down and hand over the cash to the winner.?
Chief of the board's enforcement division, James Taylor, said: 'The Nevada Gaming Control Board is charged with the strict regulation of the gaming industry, the protection of the gaming public, and ensuring that the industry benefits the State of Nevada.? ?
There was a thorough investigation that took place which included trawling through CCTV footage across numerous casinos and speaking to witnesses.
James Taylor continued, 'I commend the agents of the Enforcement Division, particularly Agent Dan Nuqui, for ensuring that the public trust in the gaming industry remains strong by spending countless hours over two weeks to ensure that a patron is awarded winnings owed to him.?'I'd also like to thank the Nevada Transportation Authority for their assistance in confirming the identity of the patron. This has been a great example of government working together for the benefit of the public.'
According to the Daily Mail, the board was so thorough that they even looked at Taylor's electronic purchase records and rideshare data obtained by the Nevada Transportation Authority.?
Finally, after a month of Taylor winning the big jackpot, he was tracked down and was told about his winning on?28 January. He collected the entire amount of his winnings on the weekend. Imagine the excitement he must have felt.?
