As Many Films Struggle At Box Office, R Madhavan's 'Rocketry' Completes 50 Days In Theatres

Has the boycott trend affected the recently released Hindi films? Aamir Khan's Laal Singh Chaddha couldn't perform as expected at the box office and Anurag Kashyap-Taapsee Pannu's Dobaaraa also saw low occupancy which led to the cancellation of the show apparently.

While the entire industry is discussing the boycott trend and how it is affecting films' business, R Madhavan-starrer Rocketry: The Nambi Effect has completed a run of 50 days in theatres.

The film that released on July 1 continues to go strong in theatres despite its release on OTT. The film was available for screening on Amazon Prime Video on July 26.

Madhavan recently opened up on why Laal Singh Chaddha failed at the box office while his film Rocketry: The Nambi Effect continues to be a success.

He said, "If we knew (why Laal Singh Chaddha didn't work), we would all be making hit films. Nobody starts off thinking that we're making a wrong film. The intent, hard work behind it is just as intense as with every film that an actor works on or doesn't. So, all the big films that have been released... the intent was to make a good film and make it work".

Furthermore, he said, "I think the only big difference with my film is that I was lucky that mine was a biopic so it is not time agnostic. It would have worked at any time, irrespective of whether it was pre-COVID-19 or post-COVID-19".

He also said that if a film doesn't work well at the box office, it's nobody's fault.

"But other films which have come after COVID-19, you're playing to a completely changed, highly educated audience, highly exposed to world cinema. They're going to judge you with that sort of a yardstick. It is nobody's fault. I think it is going to take us a little time to pull up our socks and make a screenplay that works very soon in theatres".
