¡®OTT Gave Me A New Lease Of Life¡¯, The Empire Actor Dino Morea On His Newfound Success
Dino Morea made his OTT debut with The Empire and he roared as Shaibani Khan. Indiatimes got candid with the actor and he spoke about his sabbatical his highs and lows. Dino recalls how he was fed up of doing same old things and took a hard decision of going away from movies.
Dino Morea is on cloud nine and he as all right reasons to be. The actor¡¯s determination has finally brought him success that he has been longing for a while now.
He made his OTT debut with The Empire and he roared as Shaibani Khan. Everyone is in awe of his spectacular performance that he delivered in the web show.

Indiatimes got candid with the actor and he spoke
about his sabbatical, his highs and lows and his love for OTT platform.
To begin with he said, ¡°I am just enjoying everything that is coming my way at this moment; I would love to think that I am back with a bang. I am thrilled that I took Shaibani Khan and gave my audience something delicious to watch. I really waited long enough for this opportunity and to see the audience react to me this is way just feels that I have done something right finally.¡±
Not many could have imagined Dino doing this negative role as he had the image of a chocolate hero. Talking about it he said,
"As a matter of fact, when I got this role I jumped on to it because I thought that this is something that will make people see an actor in me, that I actually have a potential as an actor. Everybody looked at me in a certain way but I am so grateful for my director and Nikhil Advani for seeing me differently. I saw myself differently all the time but for me to convey to the producers and directors to look at me differently was very tough."
Dino recalls how he was fed up of doing same old things and took a hard decision of going away from movies, he said,
"When I started in 2000 till 2010, I did many films. I remember lots of directors and producers saying that let¡¯s copy this Hollywood film. No one was extremely creative at that time. I wasn¡¯t given great roles. I was given the leading hero who falls in love with another girl or create a thriller. Nothing great that I would get thrilled. Yes, there were films that were good. I tried my best and somewhere the films didn¡¯t crack it at the box office and it was that time I took a decision of saying that NO let me stop doing mediocre work.¡±

He further added,
"Let me start saying NO to rubbish that was cutting my way. And then I started saying NO , no more favours. I don¡¯t care out of sight, out of mind. I would rather be okay with being out of sight out of mind than digging my grave and doing terrible films. So I waited, and fortunately OTT came up. Even before OTT came up there were handful of directors and writers who started doing great work. Unfortunately, I didn¡¯t get to be apart of it and then OTT came and it started giving many actors new lease of life. I mean it has given me a new lease of life."
Dino said it wasn¡¯t easy for him to stay away as even he had lots of insecurities, fighting back he said,
¡°To be honest, it was a tough decision but it was either that or just do something for the heck of it. For me, movies are like a stock market, you do bad movies your stock falls, and when your stock falls nobody is offering you anything. Or they are offering you mediocre roles, or just doing favours and that¡¯s not the way you want to participate in any films or show. When you see you colleagues going far ahead and you are last in the race, it makes you feel insecure. However, it was better than people saying, ¡®ye kya kar rahe hai¡¯, instead of ¡®Kaha the aap?¡¯

I decided to just wait and let something come my way. I worked on myself in the eventuality that something will definitely come my way and when it comes I have to be ready and prove to people that I am still fantastic and so, I waited. The wait period was really very tough because you have a lot of insecurity that you will be out of sight. I did my job as an actor by going to lots of producers and directors to ask for work but nothing really came up. I persevered and kept myself relevant.¡±
During the course of the interview, Dino did reveal that there might be a solo show on Shaibani Khan¡¯s story.
¡°People are just showering me tons of compliments. They are telling me they hated me so much but they fell in love with me at the end. Lots of big directors called me and said that they didn¡¯t see this coming. I know that they are looking at me now. There is talk, you never know that there might be a story on only Shaibani Khan and his exploits because people liked him and fell in love with him.¡±.
