More Than One Million People Have Now Fully Recovered From Coronavirus Globally

While the fight against coronavirus continues, there are some bright spots in an otherwise tough times, as more than one million people have now recovered from the coronavirus globally.

As of Friday morning, Johns Hopkins University recorded that 1,1015,183 people have now successfully overcome the disease. Total cases, meanwhile, are at 3.3 million, while deaths because of the infection stand at nearly 230,000.

The statistics show the US has seen more than 153,000 people recover from the deadly illness, followed by Germany (123,000) and Spain (112,000).

Germany, praised for its robust testing regime, has a recovery rate of around 75 per cent, according to the Johns Hopkins University data.

Spain's recovery rate is around 52 per cent, while it is closer to 36 per cent in Italy and 30 per cent in France.

The milestone of recoveries comes at a time when many countries and cities are opting to loosen their lockdown restrictions and reopen certain parts of their economies.

But just because there are a significant amount of recoveries from COVID-19 does not mean that the pandemic is over, that isn't spreading rapidly, nor that the novel coronavirus isn't still dangerous.

Data has indicated that most people who contract the virus do recover. But the virus can still spread rapidly, due to asymptomatic individuals not knowing that they have contracted it, as well as symptoms not appearing for up to 14 days after initial infection. While one person may recover, that person can also infect plenty more who may not.

Though, looking on the brighter side, it comes as a relief as countries across the world have seen their healthcare systems overwhelmed.

While deaths are increasing week over week, recoveries are rising at a faster rate.
