Century one game, duck in the next: 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi keeps the trend alive

It's not the first time¡ªand likely won't be the last¡ªthat a player who scores a beautiful century in one game goes on to depart for a duck in the very next match. The latest example is 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who followed up his brilliant 100 against the Gujarat Titans (GT) with a duck against the Mumbai Indians (MI).

Chasing a target of 218 runs in 20 overs, Vaibhav faced just two deliveries before being dismissed by Deepak Chahar in the opening over. He stood momentarily with his hands on his hips, then made the long walk back to the pavilion.

MI players were visibly pleased to have dismissed the dangerous teenager early. However, Vaibhav Suryavanshi's quick departure sparked conversation online, especially on X (formerly Twitter), where many users urged cricket fans not to criticize the young batter.

One wrote, "Ahh, and this time it's Vaibhav Suryavanshi," referencing a prediction that he might get out early after a century.
