Everdark Sovereign is a tougher version of Nightlord expeditions in Elden Ring Nightreign. These missions begin like the standard runs, but the final boss turns into a nightmare. From the start of the fight, the boss is more aggressive, hits harder and has more health than usual.
The first two nights of the expedition are unchanged. But on the final night, things get wild. The boss enters battle in its second phase, gains a new phase after losing half of its health and unleashes dangerous new mechanics/attacks.
Before starting, make sure you are well-prepared:
- Reach at least level 13
- Equip legendary gear
- Upgrade all flasks
- Carry Warming Stones and Wondrous Physick flasks
- Use relics that reduce damage or share healing
These changes make every moment of the boss fight more intense and chaotic, even for skilled players.

If you defeat an Everdark Sovereign boss, your team earns Sovereign Sigils. This new currency can be spent at the Collector Signboard vendor in Roundtable Hold, located near the shoreline. You unlock this vendor after your first successful expedition.
Sovereign Sigils can be used for:
- New character skins
- Special chalices to improve builds
- Rare relics
- Spawning Shifting Earth zones in future expeditions
These rewards help you customise your gameplay experience and make it easier to handle future bosses.
Gaping Jaw: The first Everdark Sovereign boss
Ok HOLY SHIT, hard mode Gaping Jaw is definitely the hardest boss in Nightreign but wow that is a good fight. Just beat him for the first time solo, took 2 downs but I had spares revives (bought the guaranteed vendor revives)!

The first Everdark Sovereign fight features Adel, the Gaping Jaw. This version of the boss is far more aggressive and unpredictable. You will face powerful area attacks and a new cyclone mechanic that forces players to stay close or risk constant damage.
Boss Name: Adel, Baron of Night
Weaknesses: Poison and Scarlet Rot
Changes in the fight:
- The fight starts in phase two
- A third phase begins when health drops below 50 percent
- The boss creates a moving cyclone that deals damage outside its zone
- Spiritsprings appear around the arena to jump back into the cyclone
- Constant lightning storms and fast slam attacks
- Adel¡¯s cyclone moves with the boss, which means players must stay inside it to survive. The battlefield becomes chaotic, and staying together becomes essential.
Tips to survive the Gaping Jaw Everdark fight
To make it through this expedition, players need to be smart with positioning, relics and team tactics. Focus on staying alive and reducing incoming damage with the right equipment.
Equip relics that:
- Increase damage resistance at full health
- Reduce damage from repeated hits
- Boost lightning resistance
- Share healing flasks or consumables across the team
Stay inside the cyclone at all times and use Spiritsprings to get back in if you are thrown out. If you fall behind, it is hard to recover. Use poison-based attacks and try to stagger Adel before it builds momentum.
