The much-need upgrade of the IRCTC menu is here for all the passengers of Rajdhani Express. Rajdhani, a series of express passenger train services in India operated by Indian Railways connecting the national capital New Delhi with the capitals or largest cities of various states, has been one of the Indian Railways most successful stints. But, the quality of food has been disappointing given the fares.
Luckily, from July 15th, all Rajdhani trains will serve a new menu. In fact, the preparation of the meals will also be monitored through CCTV cameras live. The detailed menu is as follows:
To start things off, all passengers of 2A/3A/CC will be served a welcome drink. This will be followed by a 200 ml branded nimbu paani bottle, refreshing tissue and morning tea.
The tea/coffee kit will have 1 sugar/sugar-free sachet (07 gm), 1 coffee (1.5-2 gm) or tea bag (2 gm), 1 milk creamer sachet (5 gm) and 2 biscuits (Marie).
Passengers who choose vegetarian meal options, will get 2 parathas, pickle-2, 2 besan chila with chutney and branded curd (100 gm each). They will also get 2 veg cutlets (50 gm each), paneer-a-la-keive (30 gm) with finger chips & boiled veg.
(25 gm)-dhokla (100 gm) with chutney and Mirch (30 gm) poha (100 gm) with chutney (30 gm)-2 Idly/rice pongal/rava upma (100 gm) & onion uttapam (100 gm) & medu vada (30 gm) with sambar (100 gm) & coconut chutney (40 gm), the report said.
The menu for non-vegetarian passengers capsicum/onion/tomato omelette of 2 eggs with finger chips & boiled veg. (25 gm)
This will be accompanied by 2 slices of white/brown bread (50 gm), 1 marmalade/ jam sachet (15 gm), 1 butter chiplet (08-10 gm), 1 pickle sachet (15 gm), 1 salt & pepper sachet (each) and a tea/coffee kit. All of this is for their breakfast.
The lunch menu for all the passengers is quite elaborate as well. Given the high standards of service and quality in the breakfast, here is what passengers will get for lunch.
Vegetarians will get, veg kabab/mini idli/vada (50 gm) & butter chiplet (8-10 gm) with branded veg soup-soup sticks-02 (20 gm packed). Mushroom soup/sweetcorn soup/soup-cream of tomato/veg soup (150 ml) will be provided along with jeera rice/ matar pulao/fried rice/basmati rice-plain rice (100 gm), 4 plain roti/2 paratha/4 rumali roti /4 poori (100 gm)/extra rice in place of roti.
Dal makhani/chana dal/choley/ghia chana dal/dal-dal tadka/kabuli chana/rajma (150 gm). The accompaniment items are pickle sachet (15 gm)-1, salt & pepper sachet (1 each), 1 branded curd (100 gms).
Veg dishes (according to the travel zone): do pyaza, paneer-navratan, korma-matar paneer (paneer-70 gm), palak paneer, mix veg, aloo gobhi, bharwa bhindi, capsicum aloo posto, vegetable poriyal, kadai paneer. dum aloo kashmere - 150 gm, veg. jalfarezi- 150 gm. shahi paneer - 150gm, paneer 70 gm, veg. kofta-malai kofta.
The menu options for non-vegetarian passengers are fish moily dahi mach-fish curry (150 gm), chicken butter masala (150 gm), chicken manchurian- chettinadu chicken-chicken dish (150 gm), chicken (100 gm), murg jalfarezi (150 gm), chicken - 100 gm.
Dessert course rasgulla-sri khand (100 gm), branded ice cream (90 ml), kulfi (60 ml) and payasam-kala jamun-(2).
Well, to be honest, this does look quite elaborate, but all we wish for is good hygienic cooking and serving practices. We do not want vendors to serve us with all of this at the cost of hygiene.
