Hania Aamir and several other Pakistani actors are blocked on Instagram for Indian users
It all began when several Pakistani celebs, including Hania Aamir, Mahira Khan, Sajal Aly, and Iqra Aziz, mysteriously vanished from Instagram for Indian users. Their accounts were blocked with the message: ¡°Account not available in India. This is because we complied with a legal request to restrict this content.¡±

As if the internet wasn¡¯t already buzzing enough, a controversial screenshot of an alleged Instagram story by Hania Aamir made the rounds on Reddit and X (formerly Twitter). In this post, Hania apparently went full political, criticising Pakistan¡¯s Chief of Army Staff, General Asim Munir, for the recent Pahalgam terror attack, which left 26 tourists dead on April 22.
Is Hania Aamir¡¯s Instagram story fake?
The story, if it were real, would have been explosive. It read: ¡°Just because of General Asim Munir's actions in Kashmir, the entire Pakistani entertainment industry has been banned in India, and even social media accounts are being restricted.¡± It even included a plea to PM Modi: ¡°We, the common people of Pakistan, have done nothing wrong. It is the Pakistani army and Islamist terrorists behind the attack. Please take action against them, not innocent citizens.¡±

Sounds intense, right? Well, there¡¯s a plot twist: many netizens are calling the screenshot straight-up fake. ¡°It is fake. And the fact that people think it is real makes it even more ridiculous,¡± said one user on X. Another chimed in, ¡°This is Photoshop at its worst. You¡¯d have to be delusional to fall for it.¡±

As the comments flew, the authenticity of the post remained unverified. Hania Aamir has not publicly confirmed or denied the screenshot so far, making things even murkier.
Meanwhile, the digital ban continues. Along with celebrity profiles, several Pakistani YouTube channels and TV shows have also been blocked from streaming in India. While some celebs like Fawad Khan and Atif Aslam remain visible online, what is the deal with them? And why are they not banned yet?
