Delhi: Yamuna Vihar Residents Form Human Chain Around School Kids, Escort Them To Safety
Residents of Yamuna Vihar formed a human chain around schoolchildren to ensure their safety amid violence in the area. More than 150 people injured in incidents of violence after clashes broke out between supporters and anti-CAA protesters.
As northeast Delhi was engulfed by communal clashes over the amended citizenship law, we got to see a glimmer of humanity. Reportedly, residents of Yamuna Vihar formed a human chain around schoolchildren to ensure their safety amid violence in the area.
A Twitter user shared the video of the incident with the caption, 'This is happening now at Yamuna Vihar in East Delhi. Locals form a human chain to escort schoolchildren to safety. Police is nowhere to be seen. Remember this is Delhi, barely 20 kms north of Hyderabad House, the site of Modi-Trump joint statement an hour or so back'.
The video shows locals in Yamuna Vihar in northeast Delhi who made a human chain to escort schoolchildren to safety, as violence continued uninterrupted in the district.
Apart from this, Hindu and Muslim residents of Yamuna Vihar stood up to the forces that sought to divide them. "Hindus and Muslims have been living peacefully in the area since a long time. Such madness is new to the area. This is the reason why we have decided to defeat the communal forces together," Mohammed Sajid, a resident, said.

He said the residents drove away outsiders who had come to the market area of Yamuna Vihar and tried to create disturbance in the region. The locals are taking turns to guard the region against outsiders.
"Residents armed with sticks and lathis are guarding the region against outsiders. We are trying hard to prevent such elements from slipping inside the colony and creating ruckus," Rahul, another resident of Yamuna Vihar, said.

More than 150 people have been injured in incidents of violence after clashes broke out between supporters and anti-CAA protesters. Several incidents of stone-pelting, arson and damage to property have also been reported from the area.
Mobs went on a rampage at market places, set shops on fire even as large groups gheraoed homes of some people, attacking their main gates with sticks and stones.
In its appeal, the Delhi Police said it has 'kept strict vigil on mischievous elements and elements' and advised people 'not to lend ear to rumour mongers and unverified messages being circulated on social media'.
The Delhi police has shared contact numbers of police personnel who are at various hospitals for those desirous of seeking information on victims admitted following communal violence in the northeast part of the national capital.
