Retro movie box office collection day 1: Retro, starring Suriya and Pooja Hegde, is off to a good start at the Indian box office. According to a report, the gangster drama earned Rs 19.25 crore in India on the first day.

Retro movie box office collection day 1: Retro, which hit the screens on May 1, has opened to a good response at the Indian box office despite receiving mixed reviews. The film was released alongside Ajay Devgn¡¯s Raid 2 and the Nani-led HIT The Third Case. This is Suriya¡¯s first release after Kanguva, which bombed at the ticket window.
Retro roars at the box office
Suriya is in the limelight because of his latest release Retro, which opened in theatres yesterday. The gangster drama has taken a good start at the box office. According to Sacnilk, a trade website, it earned Rs 19.25 crore (nett) in India on the first day. Of this, nearly 17 crore came from the Tamil version.
Interestingly, Kanguva had earned Rs 24 crore on the first day.
Retro has received mixed reviews, with critics lauding the performances but panning the execution. It remains to be seen whether the mediocre word-of-mouth affects the flick once the initial buzz dies down.
