Miss India Finalist Aishwarya Sheoran Cracks UPSC Civil Services 2019, Gets 93rd Rank

UPSC Civil Service exam results were announced on August 4. We have been hearing of many success stories of people who have cleared the exam and one such is of Aishwarya Sheoran, a former Miss India finalist and a model.

Aishwarya has secured 93rd rank in UPSC Civil services exam and says it was her dream to to become an IAS officer, which has now come true.

"My mother named me Aishwarya after Aishwarya Rai because she wanted me to become Miss India, and I was eventually chosen in the top 21 finalists for Miss India," Aishwarya said, talking to the reporters after her name appeared in the list.

She got a footing in the modeling industry from Delhi Times Fresh Face 2014, a beauty pageant show which eventually led her to enter Miss India beauty contest. She became one of the 21 finalists which helped her make a mark in the industry,

Aishwarya Sheoran said that she took a break from modelling because she always wanted to be a civil servant. It is for the world to see, that she has succeeded.

According to her she was always good in academics and did not take any coaching classes to clear the exam. When asked how she managed to study with work and tight schedule, she said, "I had to switch off my phone, social media, everything, to focus on the exam and the result is here. But it's not that I suddenly generated interest in studies. I was always studious.¡±

Aishwarya Sheoran was a model student, head girl of her school. She was a science student who took admission in Sri Ram College of Commerce. Her father Colonel Ajay Kumar, is the Commanding Officer of NCC Telangana Battalion, Karimnagar. Aishwarya reportedly wanted to try for civil services for diversity in the family with the ultimate idea to serve the nation.

¡°In the army, there are opportunities for women to grow, but it is still very limited. In civil services, there is no limit to what a woman can achieve,¡± she reportedly said.

The Civil Services Results 2019 were on August 4, 2020, on upsc.gov.in. Pradeep Singh, a farmer¡¯s son topped the exam.

Pratibha Verma is the topper among women candidates, she hails from Uttar Pradesh. A total of 829 candidates have been selected to various Civil Services like IAS, IPS, IRS through the 2019 edition of the exam.
