What are brain aneurysms and AV malformations?
According to the Cleveland Clinic, a brain aneurysm is also called a cerebral aneurysm, which is a bulge in a weak area of an artery in or around the brain. The constant pressure of blood flow pushes the weakened section outward, leading to a blister-like bump.
Moreover, when the blood rushes into the bulge, the condition stretches even farther, and it is similar to how a balloon gets thinner and is more likely to pop as it fills with air. According to the report, about 10 to 30 per cent of people who have a brain aneurysm suffer multiple aneurysms.
AV malformation, also called arteriovenous malformation (AVM), is an unusual cluster of blood vessels resembling a bird's nest. It consists of arteries that typically supply blood to the brain and veins that usually carry blood away from the brain tissue.
