The Wait Is Over! Teaser Of Irrfan's Son Babil's Debut Film Qala Finally Out, Looks Promising

Babil Khan, the son of late renowned actor Irrfan Khan, is ready to make his cinematic debut in Qala. He remarked during the film's event that he wanted to work on Qala even before reading the script, but that he was in a "vulnerable¡± situation because the audition was set around the time of his father's death.

Qala¡¯s Story

The film is set in the late 1940s and tells the story of a young playback singer. It's about her sad background and how it catches up with her, forcing her to fall apart at the pinnacle of her hard-won success due to her spiralling relationship with her mother.

Babil Shares His Experience On Working In Qala

"One of my close friends had been an assistant to Anvita and even before I read the script, I wanted to do the film. I never had second thoughts about it and jumped to reach the auditions. It was the time Baba had passed away and I was broken and vulnerable.¡±

He further continued, "When I reached Clean Slate Filmz, they made me feel so safe. I was coming with some baggage and was so scared. She was making an epic and even through all of that, she took so much care of me. I cannot thank her enough. The way she hugged me, was precious¡±

Tripti Dimri As The Lead Character In Qala

Qala starring Tripti Dimri as the lead character is characterised as a heartbreaking narrative about a daughter who seeks her mother's love and affection. This film will reunite the actor and the director Anvita following the release of their critically praised feature Bulbbul.

The director remembers meeting Babil at a party when he was only 14 years old.

"When we were auditioning for Jagan, we tested many boys. Some were very interesting but we weren't getting him. The friend that he mentioned, casually asked 'Do you want to test Babil?' But I didn't know he was looking into acting. I knew he was studying films and wanted to be a cinematographer¡±

Anvita also stated that she knew Babil would be a great fit for Jagan after his audition

¡°It was the first time he was facing the camera and it could have been frightening. Babil was also coming from a sad place and yet kept his energy intact. He was truly God's child.

"He came on the set with a lot of raw energy. Babil has a great presence and is just beautiful and innocent. He is just incredible in the film," she added.
