Just a day after the organisers of the Cannes Film Festival 2025 announced a ban on transparent designs or outfits with nudity, red carpet queen Bella Hadid appeared on donning a Saint Laurent gown with a sky-high leg slit and bare back, almost defying the 'no naked dress rule'.
Bella Hadid, the queen of the red carpet, is back! After making a major comeback on the Cannes red carpet in 2024 following health issues, Bella Hadid made her triumphant return to the French film festival on Tuesday, May 13, 2025.
Smashing her fresh blonde look, Hadid walked the red carpet opening ceremony at the Cannes Film Festival in a custom black gown from Saint Laurent. Well, Orebella's founder has always made headlines for her 'naked dresses' and chest-bearing accessories, and similarly, this year too there was a lot of speculation as to what she would wear.
The speculations arouse even more, given that just yesterday, a statement was released by the festival organisers effectively banning any transparent designs or outfits with nudity.

After a lot of rumours and speculations, Hadid defied the new 'no naked dress' rule, all without graphic nudity. She donned a hip-high slit, exposed sides, and a strappy asymmetrical cross back.

A Chopard ambassador luckily managed to skirt right around the rule with her literal skirt, which featured a dramatic slit all the way up one side. She even posed in a manner with her leg out, bringing some sultriness to the carpet without breaking any protocol or getting kicked out.
The elegant design of her dress featured a few other skin-baring details, including a sleeveless cowl neckline that offered some side-boob action. Apart from this, the dress was fairly open, with just two straps that crisscrossed along Hadid's shoulder blades.

Cannes Film Festival 2025, on Wednesday, announced that this year the organisers have decided to effectively ban any transparent dress designs or outfits with nudity. Along with this, large trains or dresses with voluminous silhouettes are also prohibited, citing French law.
