Prior to the rain delay, GT trailed the DLS par score by 5 runs. Rain returned and halted play, casting uncertainty over the outcome. As the deadline to complete the match approached, tension mounted. Fortunately, the showers stopped just in time, and the grounds-men quickly prepared the pitch before the cut-off.
The game resumed at 12:30 AM and was reduced to 19 overs. GT's revised target became 147, with 15 runs needed off the final over. Deepak Chahar took the ball but MI already were on a bad side of things as they were penalised for a slow over-rate, reducing the number of fielders allowed outside the inner circle to four. Despite all, the pacer claimed a wicket, adding to the intense, Super Over-like finish, but MI could not get the win.

Hardik Pandya bowled the 8th over and shifted the game's momentum as he conceded 18 runs through extras and boundaries. This had pushed GT ahead on the DLS score. However, Ashwani Kumar dismissed Jos Buttler and MI briefly regained control by the 12th over. Sherfane Rutherford smashed big hits and added 28 runs in two overs which then put GT back on top before rain interrupted play.

When rain halted play again, GT were 5 runs behind DLS.
