Gujarat: Bridge In Junagarh Collapses After A Few Hours Of Rain
Images and videos of 30-year-old bridge collapse in Junagarh, Gujarat are all over the internet. The bridge served as a lifeline to locals who used it for daily commute to and from their village.
Monsoon has hit several parts of India and like every year, Assam is flooded and Mumbai's roads are waterlogged. In Assam, hundreds of people have been displaced because of floods.
In Gujarat, heavy rain led to the collapse of a bridge. Images and a video of the bridge - that has now been washed away - are doing rounds on social media.

A few hours of heavy rain in Gujarat's Junagadh led to the collapse of 30-year-old masonry bridge in Bamnasa village over the Sabli river. The bridge served as a lifeline to locals who used it for daily commute to and from their village.
"The bridge was already old and heavy vehicles were prohibited from using it. A warning sign was also placed near it as it was already damaged. Nobody was injured after it caved in," PTI quoted Junagadh District Development Officer, Praveen Chaudhary, as saying.
Reportedly, a request for its repair has been pending for two years.

Aerial images show locals now cut off from the rest of the district, as the river rages where the bridge once stood.
On July 6, heavy rainfall caused water-logging in several parts of Saurashtra and flooded roads and agricultural fields in many districts. Reportedly the Droneshwar dam in Gir Somnath also overflowed.
Khambhalia tehsil in Devbhoomi Dwarka district received as much as 434 mm rainfall during the day, 292 mm between 6:00 and 8:00 pm alone, which led to major water-logging on Sunday, PTI reports.
Heavy rain also affected parts of Porbandar, Gir Somnath, Junagadh and Amreli districts in Saurashtra region, and Valsad and Navsari districts in south Gujarat, throughout the day.

Ranavav in Porbandar received 152 mm rainfall, Porbandar 120 mm, Sutrapada in Gir Somnath 103 mm, Chikhli in Navsari 99 mm, and Pardi in Valsad received 98 mm rainfall from morning till 8:00 pm Sunday.
According to PTI, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said the monsoon will remain 'vigorous', and heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely in parts of Saurashtra and North and South Gujarat, over the next three days.
The Junagadh bridge renovation work should be undertaken as soon as possible so that the daily lives of the locals disconnected from the district is not affected for long.
