'Rafale Pan Masala' Advertisement Uses Wrong Jets & No Statutory Warning, Sparks Debate

Even before the arrival of Rafale fighter jets, a pan masala brand that caused quite the stir on social media back in 2019 is back again.
Just as people released tricolour balloons to celebrate the arrival of Rafale jets, a pan masala brand's quest to pay a tribute seems to have gone awry on social media, with many pointing out loopholes in the advertisement.

The video which was created in 2019 was reposted on Twitter and has sparked a debate for being devoid of any statutory warning. Last year, R-AMP, the manufacturer of the pan masala advertised the product as a "no tobacco, no nicotine" product.
Many users also pointed out that the jets used in the video were not Rafale, but allegedly the American F-14 or Russian Mirage-2000s.
In 2019, Qazi Ilham, a member of the graphic designing team at Magicreel, the company which has produced the commercial, said that it was for an Uttar Pradesh based client, reported ANI.
A batch of five Rafale fighter jets touched down to a special water cannon salute at the Ambala air base on July 29. The French-manufactured Rafale multi-role combat jets covered a distance of nearly 7,000 km and were escorted by two Sukhoi 30 MKIs after they entered the Indian air space.

The fleet, comprising three single-seater and two twin-seater aircrafts, will be part of the No. 17 Squadron of the Air Force, also known as the ''Golden Arrows'.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh tweeted that the "birds" had landed safely in Ambala. "The touch down of Rafale combat aircrafts in India marks the beginning of a new era in our Military History. These multirole aircrafts will revolutionalise the capabilities of the IAF," Rajnath Singh said in a series of tweets.

This is the first batch from a contingent of 36 Rafale jets from French aerospace major Dassault Aviation as part of a Rs 60,000-crore deal signed by the government on September 23, 2016. The planes are expected to give a mega-boost to India's air power.
The jets, piloted by IAF officers, took off from Merignac in southwest France. The delivery of all 36 aircrafts as part of the deal is set to be completed on schedule by the end of 2021, the government has said.
