Despite Warning, Locals Cheer From Rooftops As Rafale Jets Come In For A Landing In Ambala
Video of kids cheering in excitement as Rafale Jets pass overhead in Ambala is viral. There are other videos that show people cheering in excitement.
On July 29, India welcomed the first batch of five French Rafale fighter jets that landed in Ambala. PM Modi along with other dignitaries shared videos of the landing and congratulated the Indian Air Force.

Ever since the jets landed in Ambala, security has been tightened near the airbase located 200 km from the India-Pakistan border. People were advised to not go on their rooftops to watch the jets and were prohibited from gathering in large numbers.
Filming or clicking photos of the jets was also prohibited but excitement clearly got the best of people. And they came out on the roads and went to their roofs to click pictures and record videos of the fighter jets.
One of the videos that is going viral is of kids cheering from a rooftop as the jets come in one by one for a landing.The video has garnered a lot of attention online.

In the video, one can see and hear children pointing at the fighter jets, cheering as one passes over them. Right after one of the jets passes through, the kids immediately look up at the sky again to see the another one. The house seems to be really close to the landing site as there is a clear view of the landing patch in the video.
Another video that has caught the attention of netizens is of locals cheering as the Rafale jets passing over them. In the video, a lot of people seem to have come out of their house to watch and record the fighter jets. One of the people in the video can be heard saying, "Kya baat hai bhaiji (This is awesome)," before most people break into a "Yay". The person recording the video can be heard saying- "Salute salute, proud moment for us."

The jets took off from Merignac in southwest France on July 27 and a made a stopover at Al-Dhafra air base in the United Arab Emirates. They also refuelled mid-air. After covering a distance of nearly 7,000 km, the jets reached their destination: Ambala.
