Donald Trump has slammed Zohran Mamdani following his victory in New York City's Democratic mayoral primary election. In a post on social media, he called him a ¡®100% communist lunatic¡¯
He went on to launch a personal attack on him, saying ¡®he looks terrible,
¡°(He) looks TERRIBLE, his voice is grating, he's not very smart, he's got AOC+3, Dummies ALL, backing him, and even our Great Palestinian Senator, Cryin' Chuck Schumer, is groveling over him. Yes, this is a big moment in the History of our Country!,¡±
Besides Trump, Ishaan Tharoor too weighed in on Zohran¡¯s big win. On June 24, he took to X and questioned people for typecasting him as a ¡®Muslim identity politician¡¯. He further pointed out that it was ¡®alien to his campaign¡¯.
As someone who grew up in the exact same micro-demographic as Zohran Mamdani -- the secular, somewhat privileged Indian intelligentsia of NYC -- it's wild to see people typecast him as some sort of Muslim identity politician. It's alien both to his campaign pitch and upbringing.

Ishaan, who is politician Shashi Tharoor¡¯s son, later clarified that he wanted to replace ¡®Muslim identity politician" with "Islamist identitarian¡¯.
About Zohran Mamdani
Born in Uganda in 1991, he is son of Indian filmmaker Mira Nair and Ugandan academic Mahmood Mamdani. He is an American politician and community organiser. Zohran immigrated to the U.S. as a child and spent his formative years in New York City. He later graduated from Bowdoin College with a degree in Africana Studies.He worked as a foreclosure prevention counselor and helped tenants sort out housing issues. This paved the way for his political debut.
