Retro movie box office collection day 2: Retro, which hit the screens on May 1, opened to a good response at the Indian box office and earned nearly Rs 19 crore (nett) on the first day. The film, however, witnessed a massive dip on May 2. Retro is a gangster drama directed by Karthik Subbaraj.
Retro drops by 61% on its first Friday
Suriya is in the limelight because of his latest film Retro, which hit the screens on May 1. The film witnessed a sharp decline in collections on the second day after opening to a good response at the box office. According to Sacnilk, a trade website, it earned Rs 7.5 crore on its first Friday.
This is nearly 61% lower than the Rs 19.25 crore it netted on the opening day. It is also 21% less than the Rs 9.50 crore Kanguva, Suriya¡¯s last film, which earned on its first Friday. The period drama, which was shot on a budget of Rs 300 crore, hit the screens last year and bombed at the box office, grossing merely Rs 100 crore worldwide in its full run.
