Narsingh Yadav's Rio Olympic hopes got a massive dent today after he failed a second dope test which was conducted on him on July 5. Already under a provisional suspension for failing a June 25 dope test, Narsingh, according to a report, has also flunked the second test done on both his 'A' and 'B' samples taken on July 5.
"It's the same substance that was found in the first test. It was unlikely that it would go out of the system," a Wrestling Federation of Indian source said referring to banned anabolic steroid methandienone.

Parveen Rana was named as Narsingh's replacement in the 74kg category, a move that has been approved by United World Wrestling.
Narsingh has been claiming that he has been framed in the scandal by rivals, who, he alleged, spiked his food supplements and meals. But the 26-year-old's food supplements have reportedly been found to be clean in tests conducted after his allegations, dealing a further blow to his Rio hopes.?

"This is a conspiracy to defame me. I have been practising and competing in international wrestling tournaments for many years now. I have given as many as 40-50 dope tests till now and they have all been negative except for the last one. I have always competed in an honest and transparent manner and will continue to do so because i understand my duties as a responsible athlete. This test happened so close to the Olympics. Why will i do it (take a banned substance) and make such a big mistake? How does one explain that?" Narsingh told TOI recently.

Narsingh had been picked over two-time Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar after he won the quota place with a bronze medal in last year's World Championships. Narsingh now claims that people at various levels are conspiring against him.
"The Central Bureau of Investigation should investigate the matter and find out who will benefit the most from my absence in Rio Olympics. I don¡¯t want to name anyone but the wrestling federation was embroiled in the controversy of whom to send for Olympics in 74 kg category earlier also. An intelligence report of the Haryana Police had also said that my life was at risk and i was given police protection. I didn¡¯t know, however, that they could stoop to such low levels. I know the kind of expectations people have from me," he said.
