From Character Actor To The White Lotus Lead, Jennifer Coolidge Truly Deserves The Golden Globe

She has been working in the entertainment industry for decades. A very renowned face but mostly known as a character actress, Jennifer Coolidge found her true calling with the hit anthology series The White Lotus.

Coolidge was mostly seen in comedic roles which eventually got her the recognition. However, it felt incomplete until The White Lotus happened. This show elevated her profile as a serious actor and got her the respect she truly deserved.

She had only played bits and parts, mostly supporting roles over the years. With The White Lotus, mainstream audiences finally began to take notice.

She was typecast in comedy roles which somehow lacked substance. However, with her portrayal of Tanya, she showed her acting mettle to the world.

It won¡¯t be wrong to say that she truly arrived in her late fifties.

For the desi fans, she will always be Amanda with the fake UK accent, the obnoxious friend of Monica and Phoebe who instigated a fight between the two friends by ruffling feathers.

Jennifer Coolidge finally bagged her first Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress in Limited or Anthology Series or Television Film for her performance in the popular second season.

While accepting the coveted award, she gave the most heartwarming speech, thanking Mike White for changing her life. She also revealed how only a handful of people from Hollywood stood by her. She said,

"There were like five people that kept me going for 20 years with these little jobs and Ryan Murphy, you were one of them."

"I didn't know anybody... and then there were these people who would give me these cute little jobs and it would just be enough to get to the next one. Michael Patrick King, you kept me going for a long time. Reese [Witherspoon], you got me in Legally Blonde. [There were] five different sequels of American Pie. I'm still game for six or seven, whatever they want," she added further.

Coolidge then paid an ode to White Lotus creator Mike White and said, "I had such big dreams and expectations as a younger [actor], but what happened is they get sort of fizzled by life... I had these giant ideas. And then you get older and s**t is going to happen. Mike White, you have given me hope. You've given me a new beginning."

"Even if this is the end, you changed my life in a million different ways. My neighbours [are] speaking to me and things like that. I was never invited to one party and now everyone's inviting me," she said as White broke into tears.
