7 Times School Kids In India Gave In To The Temptation Of The Infamous 'Blue Whale Challenge'

Over 450 million people are on the internet these days, sharing content that they like, believe in or what to pursue. But all the good comes with a little bad too. While one can learn how to excel, transcend, and surpass their current standards of talent, they also have access to things that can destroy them.

The recent Blue Whale Challenge is one of them. Initiated by a 22-year-old Russian, the challenge has already claimed over 130 lives. His motive is to eradicate people, who, according to him, are a biological waste.

"There are people - and there is a biological waste. Those who do not represent any value for society. Who cause or will cause only harm to society. I was cleaning our society of such people", Budeikin said during the interview with Saint Petersburg News.

In India, so far 7 cases have been reported with more and more being found on everyday basis

1. 14-year-old who jumped off a building

A 14-year-old boy in Mumbai committed suicide by jumping off his terrace. The teen's death has sparked fear amongst people about the infamous 'Blue Whale Challange' that goads young children into committing suicide.

Manpreet Sahans, a class 9 student who hailed from Sher-e-Punjab in Andheri East. One of the neighbours saw him walking on the edge of the terrace and tried calling him, but Manpreet did not respond. By the time he came down to help or inform his parents, Manpreet had jumped.

2. Class VII student who was saved by PT teacher

A class VII student in Indore, Madhya Pradesh attempted suicide in a bid to win the infamous 'Blue Whale Challenge'. The 13-year-old boy tried to jump off from the third floor of his school's building in Indore. He was stopped by his fellow students until a PT teacher came to the rescue.

3. 14-year-old who was rescued by police

The 14-year-old from Solapur, Maharashtra had left home and was on his way to complete a task when he was rescued by the police. The family and police came to know about it when the boy went missing and his classmates informed them about his participation.

4. 13-year-old from UP who hanged himself

13-year-old Parth Singh was found hanging in his bedroom in Maudaha village. The police claimed that they found his father's phone in his hand where the death breeding game was on. According to the family, Parth had been playing Blue Whale game from the past few days.

5. 17-year-old boy from Jaipur who had left his home to kill himself

A class 10 student from a private school in Jhotwara, Jaipur left his house and was on his way to commit the Blue Whale Challenge. The family members had filed a missing complaint with Karni Vihar police station on the same day.

The cops then quizzed his school friends and found that the kid was hooked to the deadly challenge. They then caught the boy and sent him back to home.

6. 16-year-old who jumped off a building

This 16-year-old from Delhi who is really active on social media and good in studies was recently admitted to a new school, which is what the police suspect to the reason behind his attempt to suicide, however, they did find his cell phone near the location and claim that the boy could be a blue whale victim.

7. Two Kerala families claim that their sons committed suicide following this game

Two cases were reported from Kerala -- the family of Manoj C Manu claimed that Manoj downloaded this game 9 months ago and has been addicted since.

Another student from IIT, named Sawant killed himself last month. According to his mother, he spent the whole night on his phone and played this game. He even he began hurting himself and inscribing letters on his body using a compass.

Another kid from Kerala thought it was cool to play this game and took it to Facebook to inform his friends that he was involved. Jaisal Francis, posted on his Facebook profile that he had completed up to four tasks of the game.

Treating this as a serious issue, Indian Government has already issued a notice and asked Google, Facebook, Whatsapp, Instagram, Microsoft and Yahoo along with other websites to kill the link.
